Zelensky supported the petition to introduce a visa regime with Russia – UNIAN

“Against the background of full-scale Russian aggression, the issue raised is important and urgent, therefore, I support the need to strengthen the regime for controlling the entry of Russian citizens into Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

He added that a corresponding letter was sent to Prime Minister Denys Shmygal with a request to work on this issue.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the petition for a visa regime with Russia gained more than 25,000 votes. The petition was created on February 11, its author is Nikita Mazura. At present, she has garnered 25,101 votes out of the 25,000 required.

As UNIAN reported, on February 23, the day before Russia’s full-scale invasion, Zelensky toldwhether the possibility of introducing a visa regime for citizens from the Russian Federation by Ukraine is being considered.

“I have many proposals from our team on the stages of the reaction. They are related to the next steps of the Russian Federation,” the president said at the time.

And last November Zelensky did not give a clear answerwhether he will insist on the introduction of a visa regime for Russian citizens in response to petition to restrict entry for Russians in the context of Russia’s aggression in the Donbas and the occupation of Crimea.
