On March 5, 2019, a big shock went through showbiz land when Wesley and Yolanthe announced their divorce at RTL Boulevard. About 1.5 years later, Yolanthe has still not processed the fracture, she says in the magazine. “Sometimes things don’t go anymore or things go wrong”, the presenter breathes her heart. “It is important to look ahead, but it is tough, because I am an emotional person. Sometimes I can handle the whole world, but there are also days when it is difficult.”

Yolanthe spends most of her days in America, where she now lives with son Xess Xava – but is now back in the Netherlands. Originally it was planned to commute between Los Angeles and Amsterdam. “Sometimes it can be a bit lonely, so far away,” she says honestly. The time difference makes it all a bit more difficult, but her son makes up for it. Whether she will finally settle in The States? She is not sure about that yet. Yolanthe tries not to look too far into the future. But she loves that no one recognizes them there.
America is therefore the perfect place for the former football woman to start over, maybe even again with Wesley. “I will always love Wes,” she says candidly. “Of course I am sad about how things turned out and I would have seen it differently. It’s not that one thing happened and we threw in the towel. There are things you can do with the audience “You hope to work it out together. But at one point there was too much grief. There was no longer enough to fight for.”

Although the actress is a happy person at the moment, she also has lesser days. “I have been through a long and difficult period and I am not quite there yet, but I am doing my best,” she tries to remain positive. That is why she still has not read the biography of her ex: it still hurts too much. “I still find that too difficult,” she says. “Wes did tell me a few things. We’ve been through a lot, fun, but also less fun things. We were still young when we came into each other’s lives. I will always be behind him. He really wanted this book, it’s his story and I’m happy for him. “
