Yes, Captain Kirk from Star Trek Becomes the World’s Oldest Man in Space

TEXAS – Hollywood actor William Shatner, who played Captain James T Kirk in film Star Trek , managed to become the oldest person in the world to reach outer space. The 90-year-old actor arrived in Earth’s sub-orbit thanks to a spaceship made by the world’s richest man, Jeff Bezos, Blue Origin, Wednesday (13/10/2021) afternoon United States time.

For 10 minutes William Shatner and three other people were in space enjoying the view above an altitude of 100 kilometers from earth. Like the first Blue Origin participants who departed on July 20, 2021, William Shatner also felt the sensation of floating in the absence of gravity.

“Everyone in the world needs to do this,” the Canadian actor told Jeff Bezos after landing back on Earth. “It’s unbelievable,” continued the man who was born on March 22, 1931.

While crying, he claimed to be happy because he was given a special opportunity by Jeff Bezos into space “What you have given me is the most profound experience. I am so filled with emotion about what has just happened. I hope I never recover from this. I hope I can maintain what I feel now. I am. don’t want to lose it, “he explained to the former Amazon CEO.

It is known that on the flight into space with Blue Origin, the actor in the TJ Hooker police film series departed with Audrey Powers, Vice President of Blue Origin; Chris Boshuizen, who co-founded the Earth Planet imaging satellite company; and Glen de Vries, an executive at the French healthcare software company Dassault Systèmes.

They were given several days of training to learn to fly on a spaceship. However, the BBC said the four did not need to undertake serious training given that the entire system on the Blue Origin plane and rocket was automatic.

The record made by William Shattner surpassed the previous record held by veteran US aviator Wally Funk, who also participated in Blue Origin’s first flight on July 20, 2021. While flying, Wally Funk was 82 years old and had become the oldest person in the world to make it into space, though William Shattner eventually passed him.
