Nearly sixty of the largest employers in Bulgaria came today to the Technical University – Plovdiv branch to offer summer internships and opportunities for part-time and permanent work of future engineers and IT specialists. The Internships Forum is being held for the tenth time.

The industrial companies represented here have a qualified staff totaling more than 22,000 employees and engineers. The largest employer at the Internship Forum is the Electricity System Operator EAD with a staff of over 4,000 highly qualified specialists, followed by ABB Bulgaria EOOD and KCM 2000 AD with over 2,500 employees each, three German Liebherr companies with a total of 2,320 employees, Ellatzite Med AD with 1850 employees and a number of others.

At the opening, the director of the Technical University – Plovdiv branch, Prof. Dr. Valyo Nikolov said: “Forum” Internships “is important for our students to better prepare for their future careers. But summer internships also have advantages in education, because our students are already starting to ask us teachers for more in-depth knowledge in certain areas. The Internships Forum is being held for the 10th time and has established itself as a good form of meeting for students and employers.

The forum aroused incredible interest among future engineers and in an hour and a half after its opening was reviewed by over 350 students, and it is expected that by the end of the working day will be visited by another 500-550 future engineers.

Third-year and fourth-year students from the Technical University – Plovdiv branch are already well informed and know what to look for in the large flow of information offered by companies. However, they are still anxious to ask about the payment of the summer internship.

First-year student Ivan Grozdev is studying Electrical Engineering and is attending such a forum for the first time. I already have an internship in Plovdiv, but that doesn’t stop me from seeing other opportunities. The internship will give me not only a salary, but also information on how I can start my own business when I graduate.

The needs of the industry

Bayrie Ismail, head of the human resources department at Kashif, Jebel, is candid: we are urgently looking for engineers for our third plant, which will be ready in a few months. They also have interns who have been with them and it is important to attract them again.

Ivelina Baleva – Human Resources Specialist at Optics – Panagyurishte attracts students with something else – work in the complex optical industry, because Panagyurishte is the center of the optical industry in Bulgaria. “Most often our interns are from Plovdiv and Sofia, who use shared travel. to come to work. We have interns who have done two or even three summer internships with us. Because they are interested and because we pay well “- says Ivelina Baleva.

At the stand of KCM 2000 AD they explain to the future interns that during the three summer months they will receive a salary and social benefits equal to that of the employees in the enterprise – food, transport, social security, allowances for good work. And for the strongest students were given the opportunity to apply for special scholarships of the metallurgical enterprise.

Work plus more training – this is the strength of the offer of Eiger Engineering, explains Desislava Shentova – HR specialist in the machine building company. We offer additional training at our own Eiger Academy, so students get more knowledge plus pay, she concluded.
