WHO Asks for Global Communities to Build and Face Covid-19

Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) urges leaders of global countries facing the corona virus outbreak (covid-19) to “wake up” and see the reality on the ground. They were asked to unite and overcome the current situation, not to argue about the origin of the virus.

“People need to ‘wake up.’ “The data does not lie. The situation that is happening on the ground is not a lie,” WHO Director of Emergency Affairs Michael Ryan was quoted as saying The Straits Times, Saturday July 4th 2020.

Covid-19 has infected more than 11 million citizens of the world. A total of 524,577 people died from the virus which was first discovered in China late last year.

The Americas is the region hardest hit by the plague. Most cases and deaths were recorded in the US, followed by several countries in Latin America.

Ryan warns, currently there are too many countries that ignore co-19 infection data in their respective regions.

“There is an economic reason behind opening a lockdown, and this is understandable. However, you cannot ignore the problem either, (Covid-19) will not magically disappear,” he stressed.

He realized there were several countries who were struggling to make unusual choices in the face of the co-19 pandemic. He said it was never too late to take control of the current co-19 pandemic

Ryan suggested that the countries of the world unite in facing covid-19 by upholding calls to maintain social distance (social distancing), maintain cleanliness, isolate cases, conduct tests, and track contacts.

“If countries continue to reopen their economies without regard to the capacity to cope with (co-19) caseloads, then the worst case scenario is feared could occur,” Ryan said.
