West Ham United 2-2 Manchester City: 5 talking points as Cityzens drop two big points

Manchester City and West Ham United drew 2-2 at London Stadium on Sunday, May 15.

West Ham United stunned the Cityzens through Jarrod Bowen who scored two goals in the first half. The Englishman, after receiving a great pass from Pablo Fornals, rounded off Ederson Moraes to score the goal. For the second, he found the goal after a brilliant control by Michail Antonio to give him an assist.

Manchester City increased the pressure in the second half when they responded immediately. Jack Grealish outplayed Lukasz Fabianski in the 49th minute of the match. Manchester City equalized in the 69th minute of the match when Vladimir Coufal’s clearance attempt from a set piece ended in the Hammers’ own net.

The visitors had a chance to complete their comeback but Mahrez missed a late penalty and the match ended in a draw.

On that note, here’s a look at the five biggest talking points in the game:

#5 Manchester City gives Liverpool hope

Gabriel Jesús woke up looking dejected after the game.

Manchester City’s stumble against West Ham United gave Liverpool a ray of hope. The Reds are four points behind the Cityzens, but they have a game to play. Jurgen Klopp’s men will face Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers in their final league matches, while City take on Aston Villa.

Manchester City will clinch the title if they win their last game, but things can take a huge turn if they lose points. Those of Pep Guardiola also have a great goal difference of 72 to cushion in case of a tie on points. The Premier League is set for a dramatic end to the season as the two clubs go head-to-head for the title.

#4 Riyad Mahrez missed a huge chance to win the game and possibly the league

Riyad Mahrez missed a great chance to win the match for his team. The Algerian international missed a chance to seal three points for City when he missed a penalty late in the match. Lukasz Fabianski took the right path and challenged the striker as he made an impressive save.

It was a great opportunity to almost seal the fate of the Premier League title, but this failure opens up a huge opportunity for Liverpool to seize. Mahrez will have to bring his A game against Aston Villa to make up for the massive miss.
