KOMPAS.com – Humanitarian activist from the Indonesian Volunteer Community-Rapid Action Response (MRI- ACT) Salatiga, Ardian Kurniawan Santoso, visited the house Suroto which is located in Keron Hamlet, Krogowanan Village, Sawangan District, Regency Magelang, Central Java, Friday (3/7/2020).
Ardian’s arrival was not without cause. He claimed to want to help take care of Suroto, after receiving the information the man had been lying in bed for 10 years.
When he first saw Suroto, Ardian claimed to have been surprised.
Because, the condition is very alarming.
In addition to being shabby and unmanageable, Suroto’s hair is also curly.
In fact, her hair was used as a pillow on her bed made of galar.

Knowing that, Ardian then asked permission to help care for him.
In addition to cutting his nails and dreadlocks, Ardian also bathed Suroto and replaced appropriate clothing.
“It was also bathed to be fresher. But now it is not able to communicate,” he said.
Getting attention from Ardian, Suroto suddenly seemed to shed tears. It’s just still reluctant to talk.
“As if to talk but restrained. Later slowly be invited to communicate and be treated, so they can return to normal,” Ardian said.
10 years of sleep
Meanwhile, Ms. Suroto, Sukanti (75) said, the strange behavior of her child who only lay down had been going on for about 10 years.
During that time his son never woke up, never talked, and never went to the bathroom.
He did not know what else to do to cure his child.
Previously, he claimed his child was healthy and behaved like a normal person.
“I do not know how it started, suddenly he was lying down and never woke up. In addition, he also never spoke again,” he explained when met at his home.
“Eating is also sparse, three to four days and then eating. At most one plate does not run out,” he added.
Although he claimed to surrender, he still hoped that in his aging age he could see his child returned to normal.

Old lie already twice

Meanwhile Suroto’s neighbor, Sujono said, the strange behavior that Suroto carried out by lying down and shut himself up in the house had happened twice.
Previously, in 1993 Suroto had also slept at home for two years.
Even so, Suroto wants to get back up and do activities like a normal person.
In fact, after that Suroto had migrated to Bandung to look for work.
“Then he joined my brother’s work in Bandung in 1996. But for three months in Bandung, Suroto always left every night,” he explained.
However, his attitude began to change when there were problems with his parents.
At that time, Suroto’s money which had been deposited with his mother to buy a motorcycle was actually used up for his daily needs.
Knowing that, Suroto was disappointed and was depressed to become involved in criminal matters and imprisoned.
“After he got out of prison, he acted strangely. Once hundreds of bamboo were made into piles around his house,” said Sujono.
But that, he continued, did not last long. After the eruption of Mount Merapi, Suroto’s strange attitude repeated itself.
He again chose to lie down and shut himself up at home until now.
