ViveBiotech investigates viral vectors for genetic medicine | Por La Sombra on Radio Euskadi

ViveBiotech researches and develops viral vectors for genetic medicine used in the cure of blood diseases -leukemias- and neurological diseases -Parkinson and Alzehimer-

ViveBiotech is a Basque company specialized since 2015 in the research and development of viral vectors. These are viruses that, devoid of their pathogenic factor, are used in genetic medicine in treatments for blood diseases -specific types of leukemias- and neurological diseases -Parkinson or Alzehimer-.

These viruses, the viral vectors, are used to transport and insert into the cells healthy genes that replace the sick genes, thereby achieving significant cure rates in certain types of leukemias.

ViveBiotech collaborates on different projects with various international groups. It has recently signed an agreement with the Japanese group Xyphos, belonging to the Japanese multinational Astellas.

In a short time, it will move and expand its facilities, keeping them in the Gipuzkoa Science and Technology Park

Gurutz Linazasoro, doctor-neurologist and president of ViveBiotech, explains on Radio Euskadi-Radio Vitoria what the work and research of this company consist of.
