Senior politician of the Democratic Party (PD), Ilham Arief Sirajuddin (IAS), confirmed that he would join the Golkar Party cadre. In fact, IAS won the Regional Conference (Musda) of the South Sulawesi PD (South Sulawesi) by pocketing 16 votes from the DPC.
“Not yet (at this time). God willing (joining Golkar),” said IAS as quoted by Antara secondsSulselFriday (27/5/2022).
Reportedly, IAS will be sworn in as a Golkar cadre during the Halalbihalal Kader and Volunteer Airlangga Hartarto event at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel on Sunday (29/5) the day after tomorrow. IAS did not deny the news. “God willing,” said IAS.
IAS considered his move to the party bearing the banyan logo to be one of the toughest decisions in his life. “God willing, if there are no obstacles on May 29, 2022, I have decided to join the Golkar Party (Golkar). This decision is not a sudden decision, but through long reflection,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Golkar of South Sulawesi, Zulham Arief, confirmed the transfer of IAS from Democrats to Golkar. “Yes, (IAS) has officially joined Golkar,” said Zulham.
To note, IAS had fought in the Musda PD Sulsel against Ni’matullah in December 2021. However, the Democratic DPP preferred Ni’matullah to return to lead the Democrats.
