Ukraine has submitted a request for the withdrawal of 308 peacekeepers. They are located in Cyprus, as well as in Kosovo, Mali, South Sudan and Abyei (a disputed region with large deposits of oil in Sudan, which is also claimed by South Sudan), reported Stéphane Dujarric, press secretary of the organization.
According to him, among them are 250 military personnel, 36 staff officers and experts, and 22 police officers.
Earlier, the UN received another request from Ukraine to withdraw its contingent from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This will allow Ukraine to return eight Mi-8 helicopters.
On March 7, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree recalling Ukrainian UN peacekeepers to participate in the defense against the Russian invasion.
