Ukraine, former prime minister Tymoshenko positive for Covid: it’s serious

The former Ukrainian premier, Yulia Tymoshenko, tested positive for Covid-19 and is in serious condition with a fever. This was reported by the Guardian citing Reuters as a source. Tymoshenko, 59, who headed the government twice before her defeat in the 2010 presidential election, became the first high-profile Ukrainian politician to have contracted the novel coronavirus. “Her condition is rated as serious, her temperature reaches 39 degrees,” said the spokeswoman for her Patria party, without mentioning whether Tymoshenko was hospitalized. Ukraine has seen a sharp increase in infections in the past week, with an increase of 2,328 cases recorded on Saturday. The total number of contacts reached 104,958, deaths are 2,271.
