UAS Answers Singapore for Suicide Bombing Sermons to Accusations of Extremism

Jakarta

Ustaz Abdul Somad (UAS) banned from entering Singapore because he was suspected of being part of an extremist group. UAS provides an explanation for the alleged part of an extremist group.

“About controversial issues that have been addressed to me, everything has been clarified. Just write on www.youtube.com ‘UAS clarification’. After that, write down the problem,” said UAS in a video uploaded on the YouTube channel Refly Harun, Wednesday (18 /5/2022).

UAS then explained about his sermon justifying the suicide bombing. UAS explained that the lecture about the suicide bombing was in the context of the war between Palestine and Israel.

“The issue of suicide martyrs. That is the context in Palestine when the Palestinian army does not have any tools to retaliate against Israeli attacks and that is not my opinion,” said UAS.

“I explained the opinion of the ulema, and in the context I conveyed it in the mosque, answering the congregation’s questions. So the congregation asked, ‘Ustaz, don’t answer the problem in Palestine. Later if it is answered I can’t enter Singapore.’ I’m an intellectual. I’m a professor, doctor, lecturer,” he added.

Then UAS also explained about his sermon about the jinn inside the statue. He said that in the statue there is a jinn is a hadith of the prophet.

“The second problem, about the problem in the statue there is a jinn. That is the hadith of the Prophet, innal malaikataangel, la tadkhulul buyutdo not enter the house, fiha tamasil“In the house there is a statue,” said UAS.

“Why don’t you want angels to come in? Because angels don’t join the assembly with jinn. It’s not that angels are afraid. They don’t want to be dirty. That’s why in Muslim homes there should be no statues,” he added.

Third, UAS explains about infidels. The Riau native cleric said that infidel is a term in Islam.

“About the issue of infidel. Kafir means disbeliever. Anyone who does not believe that Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, then he is (infidel). And I am an infidel. it means to deny. It is a term in religion, our religion. We can’t really get rid of religious terms just because we don’t want other people to be offended,” he explained.
