Frankfurt/Main – The Frankfurt Music Prize 2022 goes to the singer Peter Maffay and his band. The award, which is worth 15,000 euros, is to be presented to the musicians on April 29 in Frankfurt’s Paulskirche, as Messe Frankfurt announced on Wednesday. –
The 72-year-old was originally supposed to receive the award in 2020 – but the award ceremony was canceled at the time due to the corona pandemic. With the award, the board of trustees acknowledges the outstanding musical qualities and the “lived artistic and content-related curiosity” of the troupe. The Frankfurt Music Prize is organized by the Federal Association of German Musical Instrument Manufacturers (BDMH) and Messe Frankfurt and has been awarded since 1982. The winners include Udo Lindenberg, Peter Gabriel and Marie-Luise Neunecker.
