Trumpists Seek to Unseat Georgia Governor Over 2020 Defeat | Policy | USA Edition

The “trumpist” wing of the Republican Party seeks to dethrone Georgia Governor Brian Kemp on Tuesday, whom he directly blames for the 2020 presidential defeat in which Joe Biden and the Democrats won the victory in this state that until then was considered a conservative stronghold.

The gubernatorial race between Kemp and Trump’s chosen candidate, former Sen. David Perdue, is the most nationally focused election today in Georgia as former state lawmaker Stacey Abrams is unchallenged in the Democratic primary.
