Toxic smoke released in fire at Emmeloord solar park

A fire rages in a transformer house at a solar park in Emmeloord. According to the fire brigade, the house contains hundreds of liters of toxic oil.

The oil used as a coolant cannot be quenched. That is why the fire brigade has the transformer house burned out in a controlled manner. Foam has been sprayed over the solar panels so that they are not damaged.

A lot of black smoke was released during the fire. It can be seen in the far surroundings, reports Broadcaster Flevoland.

It is not the first time that a fire breaks out in a transformer house in the solar park. This already happened in another house at the end of March. The cause of both fires is not clear.
