This is the secret of a rocket that can fly in space even though there is no oxygen

FLORIDA – How the rocket can stay gliding in outer space the airless one? It turns out, rocket can fly relying on combustion and Newton’s third law of motion.

Rockets have an engine that is different from the type of engine that propels airplanes or other equipment on Earth. Like other engines, rockets operate on combustion.

It is known that all combustion requires oxygen, so the rocket carries liquid oxygen into space so that the engine can operate. So a rocket engine does not depend on the ambient air like a car engine to operate.

“In addition to carrying fuel, rockets also carry kerosene or methane or liquid hydrogen, to produce a propulsive reaction,” Cassandra Marion, science adviser for the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa, told Live Science Wednesday (05/25/2022).

The rocket design was made in such a way as to include a combustion chamber, where the oxidizer and fuel react, and then a nozzle where combustion energy is produced. “If you push enough force into the bottom of the rocket, the reaction is to move the rocket in the opposite direction,” Marion said.

The process refers to Isaac Newton’s third law of motion that every action produces an equal and opposite reaction. In other words, rockets work according to the laws of the universe.

Sometimes the unbalanced force, which we see as the acceleration of the rocket propelling it into space. The rules of motion must also take into account orbital mechanics. Around a large planet like Earth, simply put, every possible altitude has a certain speed.
