Almir Narayamoga Surui, a Brazilian who is defending the amazon rainforest against illegal logging, was expected to the wishes of Medef Côte-d’or on Tuesday 21 January 2020. But, his speech was cancelled because the indian chief, whose head was put at price, had disappeared.

The indian chief, engaged in a battle for ecology was the guest of Medef Côte-d’or Tuesday, February 21. The event was full. Almir Narayamoga Surui was supposed to land yesterday, Monday 20 January at the airport of Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport. But, “the indian chief has not given a new to his surroundings and to his collaborators for Saturday, 18th of January”, then explains the Medef Côte-d’or.
“Our concern is compounded by the reality of the threat which weighed on him, his head having been put to price because of his fight against illegal deforestation. He had, moreover, decided to no longer be protected as a sign of protest, considering that this was to be the brazilian government to take its responsibilities,” adds the Medef 21.
Finally, about 17 hours, it was learned that the indian chief of South America, Almir Narayamoga Surui is “alive and well” and “in his territory”according to Thomas Pizer of the association Aquaverde, which supports locally the action of Almir against the deforestation and the maintenance of indigenous peoples.

Threats intensified
“I have not been able to contact him, but his employees say to me that it goes well, that he is alive,” Thomas said Pizer. “It is on its native land. It is possible that there has been a security problem. Almir has been under threat since 2006 for her fight to save the amazon rainforest. These threats have intensified since the end of the year. He could have been sued on the route between the native land and the nearest town.”
Almir Narayamoga Surui is one of the greatest activists, indigenous to South America.
This graduate in biology, is engaged in the defense of their ancestral lands. He received the award of human Rights in 2008 in Geneva.
In may 2019, Almir Narayamoga Surui had been invited to the national Assembly by Mounir Mahjoubi, ex-secretary of State to digital. He had then alerted the members of the French parliament on the greater dangers of deforestation since the election of the president of the Republic brazilian Jair Bolsonaro.
