Hockey striker Nicholas Bondra will try the Slovak extra league for the first time in his career. The son of Slovak hockey legend Petr Bondra agreed on a trial contract in HK Poprad, in which he will also meet his brother Dávid. The club informed about it on the official website.
Nicholas Bondra was born in Annapolis, USA, and his career so far has been in lower overseas competitions. Since 2017, he has been involved in the NCAA III university competition.
“I am grateful for this opportunity. I will try to use the trust from HK Poprad and win a stable place in the team. In recent years, I have had the opportunity to train with A-team players in the summer. I know the environment well and I believe I can get into line-up and play a league match with brother David, ” said Bondra.
The 28-year-old striker also has Slovak citizenship and therefore is not affected by the legionary limit. “It’s a win-win situation for both parties. It’s up to him to show his chance. I believe he can make a name for himself and help us. said the director of HK Poprad Ľudovít Jurinyi for the club website.
