Well, if you’ve read (or listened to) both the Lord of the Rings books and the Hobbit books, then you know that there is a very big world that Gollum/Smeagol also went through extensively. There is quite a lot to do with it, especially with role-play.
Smeagol once started as an ‘ordinary’ man and also wore ‘the ring’ for a while. After that he lived for a while in middle-earth and made life miserable for the dwarves there.
And in both the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings he has been through a large part of the journey. Partly direct and partly as a shadow figure. And with the latter there is also quite a lot to do.
Of course it’s also about the beautiful pictures. In that respect you should also check out the older LotR films, the same story but with very different images of the worlds.
