Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy story will end on third film. Franchise director James Gunn spoke about this.

“This is the end for us, the last time people will see this Guardian team,” the 55-year-old director said in a recent episode of the podcast. Hero Nation. “I just want to be true to the characters and the story, and give people the ending they deserve. It’s always a little scary, I do my best.”

We add that in parallel with Guardians of the Galaxy, Gunn became interested in the film adaptation of DC comics: he shot the second film “Suicide Squad“and its spin-off – the series” Peacemaker “. By the way, the director plans to have another project in this universe.

As for Guardians, the release of the third part is scheduled for May 2023, but before it – in the summer of 2022 – another hit from Marvel “Thor: Love and Thunder” should be released, where the team of space adventurers will return to the screen.

Fans of the franchise need not worry too much. It’s about Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon not getting together again, but that doesn’t mean the Guardians team can’t return with a different lineup.
