The Swiss, still the leader in this statistic with a record of 369-60, signed his victory No. 300 by defeating Grigor Dimitrov in the third round of Australian Open 2016when Rafael added 198 (7th best record in history at the time). And the Serbian, second in this statistic with a record of 325-46, reached his 300th victory in this type of tournament by beating Milos Raonic in the round of 16 of Australian Open 2021. Rafa took seven years to get the first 100; and six to add the second hundred major wins in his career. And he has only needed the last five years to reach 300. This comparison with past versions of him highlights his effectiveness since 2017 in these types of tournaments.
Those 300 victories that he now has in this type of tournament, Nadal has achieved them without losing sets on 222 occasions (including this Wednesday). In that sense, the Spaniard has been the most effective of the Big-3. 74% of his Grand Slam wins have been achieved without losing sets, surpassing Federer’s 72% and Djokovic’s 65%.
The players he has beaten the most are: Novak Djokovic y Roger Federer. 10 times in Grand Slams he has overcome each one, maintaining the positive record: 10-7 with the Serbian and 10-4 with the Swiss. The other players he has beaten the most times in majors are: Andy Murray (9) and Diego Schwartzman (6).
