For FC Twente there is still work to be done on the transfer market, but technical director Jan Streuer does not want to make hasty decisions. The club from Enschede is quietly waiting to see whether the top clubs in the Netherlands allow players to leave for free.
“The trick is now to be patient, because there are still a lot of players on the market,” Streuer says in conversation with TC/Tubantia. “Large clubs such as Ajax and PSV, for example, would first like to see what they want with the current players. There may soon be room if they have made some purchases themselves.”
One of the names that roams around Enschede is that of Tomás Necid. However, Streuer denies that Twente is close to an agreement. “There are many strikers on our list and we are still orientating ourselves.” Streuer is also not expected to expect Douglas to return to Enschede. “Douglas has not shown anything for ages and how long has it been since he played a decent game? Before such a player can catch up in training, we have gone a long time. We are looking for experienced players who are examples for the rest. El Ahmadi is one such example and so is Brama. Douglas is not in my view. “
Gate
Streuer does expect that Wout Brama will extend his contract in the Grolsch Veste. “We are not yet together, but I am hopeful that it will happen in the short term,” concludes the technical director.
