Autoimmune skin diseases can affect the quality of life of sufferers because they generally occur chronically, long term and are recurrent. Therefore, Doctor Anthony reminded the importance of sufficient knowledge from the patient and the community regarding the disease.

“How to prevent it, how to prevent recurrence, the right way of treatment and when to seek treatment. It is important for the patient to know,” he said.
There are three types of skin autoimmune that most often occur during the Covid-19 pandemic. Namely, psoriasis or inflammation caused by skin turnover that is too fast. Second, vitiligo which is characterized by the appearance of white patches on the skin. Third, urticaria or better known as hives.
Dermatologist and gynecologist dr. Amelia Soebyanto, Sp.DV., said that stress is one of the many factors that cause the emergence or recurrence of autoimmune skin diseases during the pandemic.
Apart from that, lifestyle changes for longer at home, such as infrequent physical activity, changing diet, and even lack of rest can trigger the disease.
“With high stress, especially during a pandemic, it makes autoimmune skin diseases recur more often and sometimes become much more severe,” he said.
