Sony announces new 4K and 8K smart TVs

Today in China, Sony has introduced a new family of premium TVs with Smart TV support. A total of 5 models were shown: Z8H, A8H, X9000H, X9500H and X8000H. They all have different diagonals and are aimed at different audiences.


The most advanced model presented today is the Z8H – an 8K LED TV. It is available in versions with a diagonal of 75 inches (priced at $ 7060) and 85 inches ($ 11,295). The model will appear on free sale on April 26, but now you can pre-order it and receive a gift in the form of Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones with noise reduction function.

The TV called A8H is the only one presented today with the owner of an OLED matrix with 4K resolution. The remaining three models received the usual LED-panels with the same resolution. The rest of the TVs are quite similar in functionality. All models received support for the functions TRILUMOS, X-Reality Pro and X-Motion Clarity, designed to improve the final image. In addition, the TVs received full support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Digital Panorama Sound.

In terms of image processing hardware, the Z8H, A8H and X9500H are equipped with the Sony X1 Ultimate chip, while the X9000H and X8000H are equipped with the simpler Sony X1. All devices are running Android 9.0 Pie with Sony’s proprietary shell installed on top.

As for positioning, the Z8H is designed for those who want to equip a home cinema of the highest quality, the A8H is for those who are worried about their vision, the X8000H with a high refresh rate of up to 120 Hz is for gamers, and the X9500H is for fans of sports broadcasts.
