It seems difficult for the Austrian league boss that a club president like Constatin wants to drag the league to court.
Mr. Ebenbauer, do you have any concerns about starting the championship again after Pentecost?
Christian Ebenbauer: We are aware of our responsibility and proud that we have worked with the authorities, experts and clubs to develop a solution from which the entire team sport can benefit. In Austria they are looking forward to the continuation of the championship and that the ball is finally rolling again.

Were all the clubs ready to start again next Tuesday?
In a first vote in mid-March, a majority voted for it. The final decision to start again has now been made unanimously. Also because we now have clarity regarding medical prescriptions. Originally it was planned that all players would have to be tested on Corona every three days. But that would not have been financially viable for the clubs. Now “only” will be tested once a week. Only: ghost games are just an emergency plan. And I think the financial situation of the clubs with us is similar to that in Switzerland. Even in the medium to long term, our clubs cannot survive with ghost games.

Do the clubs in Austria and Switzerland get support from the state?
No, Switzerland is one step ahead in this regard. Our clubs have not yet received any loans or support. So far there are only declarations of intent.

Would it also be possible in Austria that a club president like Sions Christian Constantin threatens to bring the league to collapse by going to the courts?
It would be possible. But in Austria the Bundesliga and the clubs have signed an arbitration agreement. We have an arbitration panel that is responsible for disputes among clubs.

Sions president wants to go to court, among other things, because the player contracts only apply until June 30, but the championship would end in July at the earliest. Would something similar be imaginable in Austria?
No. Of course, with June 30th, that was also a very big topic for us. But: First, we have a collective agreement with the union. Secondly, we have the clause in an attached model contract that applies to all players. It says that the season does not last until June 30th – but until the last matchday.
