The police in Nordland reported a serious traffic accident just before 4.30 pm on Sunday afternoon.
There are said to be two vehicles involved in the accident and six people were injured in the incident.
Several of them seriously.
The police inform that life-saving treatment is underway and that the accident group from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration has been notified and is on its way to the scene.
– It looks like a rear-end collision. There was one person in one vehicle and five in the other, says Tommy Beck at the police operations center to NRK.
The Steigen tunnel is over 8 km long and runs under Veggfjellan between Tømmerneset in Hamarøy and Forsan in Steigen.
