Serious accident in the Steigen tunnel – life-saving treatment in progress – NRK Nordland

The police in Nordland reported a serious traffic accident just before 4.30 pm on Sunday afternoon.

The Steigen tunnel is over 8 km long and runs under Veggfjellan between Tømmerneset in Hamarøy and Forsan in Steigen.

The accident happened in the middle of the Steigen tunnel in Nordland, which is 8 kilometers long and one of Norway’s longest.

– Life-saving treatment is being worked on and it is considered a serious accident, Beck states.

The tunnel is closed. Vegtrafikksentralen writes on Twitter that the road will not be reopened until 10.30 pm at the earliest.
