SERIES A – Before Inter Milan’s trip to Hellas Verona on Thursday, Atalanta Bergamo climbs to third place in the Italian championship after their victory at home against Sampdoria on Wednesday evening (2-0 ). For their part, AS Rome and Naples settle again in fifth and sixth position, following their respective successes against Parma (2-1) and Genoa (2-1).
It is only provisional. Before the Hellas Verona-Inter Milan match on Thursday, Atalanta Bergamo rose to the Serie A podium on Wednesday by beating Sampdoria Genoa (2-0) on matchday 31, which also saw a good fight for 5th place. The matches are linked every three days and the brilliant Bergamasques, like many others, have the right to stick out their tongues a little. They therefore had a hard time getting rid of the tough Sampdoria (16th) who only gave way in the last quarter of an hour, facing Toloi (75th) and Muriel (85th).

Whatever happens at Inter on Thursday, Gian Piero Gasperini’s team has the right to look ahead, because Lazio Rome (2nd) is only two steps ahead. Behind the Top 4 qualifying for the Champions League, the fight is raging for 5th place, directly qualifying for the Europa League. The place is for the moment occupied by AS Rome which, after three consecutive defeats, finally reacted by beating Parma (2-1).
It was not easy, the Giallorossi being quickly led after a penalty from Kucka (9th). But Mkhitaryan just before the break (43rd) and the French Veretout with a hitting ball (57th) reversed the situation. Behind Roma but with the same number of points, we find Naples (6th), which is part of the teams which started off on the right foot after the long interruption of the championship and which showed it again on Wednesday by going to win (2 -1) on the lawn of Genoa.

Mertens opened the scoring just before the break (45 + 1), but Goldaniga replied at the start of the second half. In the 66th minute, it was the Mexican Lozano who offered the three points in Naples. With this success, the Neapolitans take 5th place, abandoned 24 hours at AC Milan, surprising winner of Juventus on Tuesday (4-2).
In the other match scheduled for the early evening, Fiorentina by Franck Ribéry and Cagliari separated with a goalless draw (0-0).
