The police and rescue service KNRM have stopped the search for a 14-year-old German girl for today. The girl disappeared into the sea near Ameland on Saturday evening. In the morning, the emergency services decide what the plan is for the further search.
The KNRM assumes that the girl has died. “She’s probably drifted because of the strong current and disappeared from sight through the dark,” a spokesman said earlier today.
Yesterday all day was warned about the current. During the holiday period, areas have been cordoned off where people can swim under supervision.
Shrimp cutters
According to RTV North from 5 am twenty shrimp cutters from Friesland and Groningen will search for the girl. The fishermen want to line up with their boats and sail through the area where the girl supposedly drifted.
