Russia may host Champions League mini-tournament

Russia intends to apply for a mini-tournament of the Champions League this season, says Bild.
According to the source, UEFA is considering the option of replaying the Champions League in one country starting from the quarter-finals stage. In this case, the receiving side must provide four stadiums, which are located in a radius of 100 kilometers.
Currently, the applicant is the German city of Frankfurt, which can apply together with Mainz, Hoffenheim and Darmstadt / Wiesbaden. Portugal is also considering filing an application.
Recall that the Champions League season 2019/2020 is suspended due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus. The resumption of the tournament is scheduled for August, but neither the format of the matches, nor the schedule has yet been approved.
