The members of the ISS expedition who were in Earth orbit were joined by professional cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, as well as members of the film crew – film director Klim Shipenko and actress Yulia Peresild.
Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle with Soyuz MS-19 manned transport vehicle successfully started from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on October 5 at 11.55.
The spacecraft docked to the Rassvet module three hours later using a “superfast rendezvous scheme”.
Prior to that, there were cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Peter Dubrov on board the International Space Station, as well as astronauts Mark Vande Hai, Shane Kimbrow, Megan MacArthur, Tom Peske and Akihiko Hoshide.
It is planned that Peresild and Shipenko will return to Earth on October 17 together with Novitsky, and Shkaplerov in March 2022 together with Dubrov and Wande Hai.
Peresild participated in space flight v creative selection and passed the medical commission.
The International Space Station is a manned space station that is used as a multipurpose space research facility. Five space agencies are participating in the project: NASA, Roscosmos, the European Space Agency, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and the Canadian Space Agency. The ISS was assembled in Earth orbit in 1998-2000. On November 2, 2000, the first expedition went to the station.
In 2014, the countries participating in the program agreed to operate the station until 2024, but in “Roskosmos” they saidthat its resource will last for four additional years.
