Ronaldinho and his brother left prison in Paraguay on Tuesday. The Brazilians, who have been detained since the beginning of March for traveling with false documents, are allowed to serve their sentences in a hotel after paying a deposit of nearly 1.5 million euros.
Ronaldinho, 40, who celebrated his birthday in prison, and his brother are now staying in a hotel in the Paraguayan capital, Asuncion. They are under house arrest and are monitored 24 hours a day. In the meantime, the investigation by the public prosecutor continues.
Ronaldinho and his brother were in Asuncion to promote a book and a clinic. According to local media, Ronaldinho left Brazil with a Brazilian passport and entered Paraguay with a forged Paraguayan document.
Initially, Ronaldinho and his brother would get rid of it with a fine. However, the judge did not want to approve the prosecutor’s proposal and decided to have the two arrested.
