REWE Scan&Go now supported by shopreme

REWE has been offering mobile self-checkout since 2019, with different providers and solutions being tested. Now Scan & Go is going to the solution of the Austrian provider shopreme unified.

Scan & Go – advantages and use

For customers, using Scan & Go Benefits such as time savings during the checkout process, pre-calculation of the shopping cart, extended product information and integrated use of existing services such as cashback and coupons. The smooth integration was made possible by shopreme’s SDK (Software Development Kit), which enables deep and customized embedding of the Scan & Go functionality in the REWE systems. The requirements and special cases of the food retail trade can thus be met.

Scan & Go can be used in two ways at REWE: Customers can either use the REWE app “REWE Offers and Delivery Service” and scan the purchase with their own smartphone, or they can use hand-held scanner devices from Zebra made available in the stores , which are compatible with the shopreme solution.

For REWE, advantages result from the relief of the staff and the increase in efficiency at the point of sale.

Gradual expansion

After the successful test phase, the standardized Scan & Go solution is to be set up step by step in those REWE stores in Germany where there is corresponding potential. The basis for this is a long-term partnership between REWE and shopreme. Florian Burgstaller, CEO of shopreme, reports: “Our entire team is proud that after the successful go-live at PENNY, REWE is now also using shopreme for Scan & Go. During the project, we were able to prove how flexible and versatile our SDK is with integration points such as cashback and coupons, but also with the successful use of Zebra hardware scanners. It is nice to see that more than seven years of product development are paying off.”
