Pupils see teacher abuse online

Pupils from a secondary school in Naaldwijk witnessed an abuse of their teacher on Thursday. The woman taught through Teams, an online video link, when she was abused by her partner.

A spokesperson for the high school ISW Hoogeland confirms a story about this The Telegraph. A report was made against the man. The teacher is doing well under circumstances. It is not clear what preceded the abuse.

Because schools are closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, many lessons are given online with direct video and audio connections.

Images in WhatsApp groups

Images of the abuse are stored and circulate in WhatsApp groups. About thirty students are said to have witnessed the incident.

“In the first place for the children and their parents, but also for the school it is very intense,” said the spokesman for the school. “We are calling for the images to be removed from WhatsApp. Yesterday we personally called the parents of the students of the class in question and today we emailed the whole school.”

Pupils or parents who want to talk about the incident can contact the school’s team leaders. “If someone wants to talk, has a question or needs victim assistance, they can knock on the door with us.”
