The progressive metal rock band “Opeth” will perform in Latvia for the first time on March 11 next year. The concert in the concert hall “Palladium” will be part of the tour of the band’s latest album “In Cauda Venenum”, the representatives of the concert agency FBI informed.

The special guests of the concert will be the Icelandic classical rock band “The Vintage Caravan”.

The Swedish rock band Opeth’s debut album was released in 1995, but it was founded in 1990 with the aim of creating the “worst band in the world”. The organizers of the concert note: “Apparently, the members of the group have tried to achieve such a goal by strongly influencing the heavy metal genre in the early period of their work.”

During the years of the group’s existence, the composition has changed several times, thus the range of musical influences has also varied. Along with the heavy metal genre “Opeth”, the influences of progressive rock, metal, folk, blues rock, classical music and jazz music stand out over time. The list of artistic influences is diverse and reflects the music created by “Opeth” – it alternates between progressive rock and heavy metal, but at the same time the group’s musical performances also have the characteristics of psychedelic rock.

During the group’s existence, 13 studio albums, four concert albums and four live concert DVD recordings have been released. Opeth’s latest album “In Cauda Venenum” (2019) is considered by the participants to be the most important performance in the group’s work so far and is called the “happy thirteenth”. As the group’s soloist points out Mikael Åkerfeldt, who is also the founder of the band and the only member who has been playing in it since the founding of the band, this album reveals both his own and the band ‘s artistic values ​​and musical style.

Tickets for the Opeth concert at the Palladium Concert Hall on March 11, 2021 will go on sale on July 13.
