“Previously, there was a sudden release of methane, then there was an explosion. But the specific reason for the release has not yet been established, the competent and investigative authorities are now looking into this,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

Meanwhile, the director of the mine, Sergei Makhrakov, was arrested, who did not plead guilty for the incident.

The chief state inspector of the Belovsky territorial department of the Siberian department of Rostekhnadzor Vyacheslav Semykin was also arrested.

Mine fire occurred in the morning of November 25th. At the time of the accident, there were about 280 people in it. It was reported that as a result Emergency killed 46 miners and 6 rescuers, but one day later the lifeguard was found alive.
