Waldleiningen (Kaiserslautern district) (ots)

In broad daylight, unknown perpetrators broke into two vehicles in the Waldleiningen area. The two affected car owners had parked their respective cars – independently of each other – in the morning in a parking lot in the forest on the L504.

The Suzuki SX4 of a 38-year-old woman cracked between 10.45 and 11.25 a.m. Apart from that, the perpetrators had a handbag that they discovered inside the car. Along with the bag, they stole a purse containing cash, a bank card, an ID card and a health insurance card.

It was similar for the owner of an Opel Corsa who had parked and locked his car around 10:30 a.m. When he got back to his car around 1 p.m., he found that a side window had been smashed in the meantime.

Inspection of the interior revealed that the car was unlocked and the glove box was ransacked. The loot of the perpetrators: a bunch of keys and a handbag containing, among other things, a wallet with an ID card, credit and debit card, health insurance card and cash.

But that’s not all: A little later, the person concerned reported again and said that the thieves had used the stolen EC card to withdraw cash from an ATM in Hochspeyer. The total damage is therefore in the four-digit range.

In this context, once again the urgent appeal: Do not leave any valuables in the car, including bags! And make sure there’s nothing lying around inside that would be of interest to potential thieves looking through the glass from the outside.

In addition: Never keep your EC card and the associated PIN in the same place – certainly not together in your wallet! |cri
