Maung-made tactical vehicles (rantis) Pindad not only sold to the Ministry of Defense (Ministry of Defense). According to the state-owned company Maung with ‘civil’ specifications will be sold to the general public at a cheaper price.
Pindad President Director Abraham Mose explained Maung ordered according to the needs of the Ministry of Defense was sold at a price of around Rp. 600 million. He said Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto had ordered 500 units whose mass production would be carried out in October.

Abraham explained Maung would be sold to the general public such as SUV type vehicles. The marketing will be carried out after the cooperation with the Ministry of Defense is completed.
“So civilians can also buy and the prices are relatively or competitively affordable,” Abraham said when contacted on Monday (7/13).

Maung civil specifications
One thing is certain Maung’s specifications for civilians are not equipped with weaponry. Maung military version ordered by the Ministry of Defense is known to have a 7.62 mm caliber weapon stand, SS2-V4 console, GPS navigation device, and vehicle tracker and other equipment.
According to Abraham, outside Maung’s specifications for civilians are not too different from the military version. The difference is called the body and the glass is not bulletproof, without a rollbar, and does not need an armory.
However Abraham said if there were consumers who wanted Maung it could have been equipped with bulletproof components but with the consequence of price adjustments.
“But as soon as there is a model for civil society, there are reductions, yes, like [SUV] in general. And surely [harga] “A little further down, more or less Rp. 400 million – Rp. 500 million, but we are still monitoring first,” he said.
The price spoken by Abraham makes Maung a civilian version equivalent to popular medium SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner which is sold at Rp.492.9 million – Rp685 million or Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Rp.491.5 million – Rp702 million.

Pindad develops Maung into four variants, three of which are called double cabins, logistical vehicles, and cars that are specialized for close combat as ordered by the Ministry of Defense.
“But we are still testing the following three variants, and we just released this one [pesanan Kemenhan]”Abraham said.
The main advantage of Maung is that it can hit difficult terrain and operate in areas not asphalt. This car is equipped with a 2,500 cc turbo diesel engine owned by Toyota Hilux, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 4×4 motion system.
Abraham explained that Maung for civil society would be marketed through retail through a subsidiary or Pindad directly. The matter of engine maintenance is said to be able to utilize Toyota’s official workshop.

Maung became lively to be discussed after Prabowo revealed that through social media personally he had tested the tactical vehicle.
