Pigai asks Ruhut’s intention to upload a photo of Anies in Papuan traditional clothes

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Former Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission Natalius Pigai questioned the intentions of the politicians of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Ruhut Sitompul uploaded a photo of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan wearing traditional clothes Papua.

Ruhut uploaded a photo of Anies in Papuan traditional clothes via his Twitter account, @ruhutsitompul, Wednesday (11/5). The authenticity of the photo is not yet known.

“I guess I need to ask what the post means? Yes [penjelasan Ruhut]especially Papuan clothes,” Natalius said when contacted on Wednesday.

According to Natalius, if the photo that Ruhut uploaded was the result of editing, it could contain an element of insult. However, he did not want to conclude.

“Is that really Mr. Anies’ photo or not? If it is edited or edited, then there is meaning blasphemy (or) humiliation,” he said.

In a separate interview, Ruhut admitted that he only got the photo on social media and then re-uploaded it on his Twitter account.

Ruhut also satirized Anies’ behavior, who often wore traditional clothes from the area he was visiting. According to him, this was done by Anies to be considered an Indonesian.

“Jogja becomes a Jogjanese. Come to Central Java, Banyuwangi or whatever, so that you can say that you are a native Indonesian,” he said.

According to Ruhut, the photo he uploaded did not contain an element of humiliation. “How come it’s an insult? There’s no insult, but they like to insult,” he said.

CNNIndonesia.com contacted the Governor’s Team for the Acceleration of Development (TGUPP) to request a statement from Anies. Until this news was published, TGUPP Chairman Amin Subekti had not responded.
