But what was Pierre-Jean Chalençon doing at Malmedy? With his Belgian friend Fabien Bruyère, they laid an additional stone to the building of his future great Napoleonic exhibition in Liège. How did the collector, TV star and this tax lawyer, royalist, from the Liège region meet? Well, through… “Deal concluded”. “I discovered Pierre-Jean on television and I was very intrigued by the character. I wanted to meet him at his palace Vivienne where he organizes visits. I was first impressed. He is someone special but very endearing. ”
Quickly, they decide to organize a conference in Belgium, last October. And “thereafter, we launched the idea, a little crazy, to organize an exhibition in Liège on Napoleon.”
This exhibition, which will be the largest in the world on this theme and coming from an individual, should see the light next April, in Liège-Guillemins. “The idea is that we take 300 pieces,” explains Pierre-Jean Chalençon. “Which is a lot and a little because there is still 2,000 square meters of exhibition. I want a very nice exhibition because in Liège, we are a little in the heart of French-speaking Europe. Napoleon came there twice! So this morning, I came to push the project a bit. We are well advanced, we have an agreement in principle ”.
Chez Poutine in 2022
This large exhibition should remain in Liège until the end of 2021, before flying around the world. “I have requests in Brazil, Polynesia, and Russia where President Putin would like to have my collection for 2022.”
