Anita Lazdeniece, a representative of the concert hall, says that the artists gave the audience a personal conversation through poetry lines, guitar solos and songs about love and the world of inner feelings, combining it all in the Moment After Dinner program.

Opening the concert, Kaspars Zemītis addressed the audience: “Such moments are often more important than dinner – to enjoy music and poetry together that is appropriate for our time and our feelings. I’m glad we can all be here together. ”

Rēzija Kalniņa, on the other hand, continued this idea with her wish listeners: “When it is very difficult, I recommend each of you to read poetry and move on to everyday life.”

This time, the “Moment After Dinner” program was performed in the afternoon, maintaining a quiet, intimate and romantic atmosphere that fits into the twilight zone between day and evening, which, according to Rēzija Kalniņa, is an “hour that suits poetry”. Artists offered music and poetry to their hearts, both live and online.

Along with Kaspars Zemītis’ emotional guitar playing, Rēzija Kalniņa’s velvety and expressive voice spoke the lines of poetry of several Latvian authors.

The program included poetry by Rudīte Losāne, Dace Zālīte-Micāne, Māra Zālīte, Māra Čaklā, Imants Ziedonis and Rēzijas Kalniņa’s twin brother Krista Kalniņš from the collection “Niekalbītis Poetry Book”.

This poetry was permeated by the original compositions of Kaspars Zemītis, as well as arrangements for such compositions by Latvian and foreign composers as “Melancholic Waltz” by Emils Darzins, the folk song “Dark Night, Green Hall”, “Imagine” by John Lennon, etc.

In the sonorous duo, both artists also performed the touching song “Acacia Sheet” with poetry by Maris Chaklas and music by Rēzija’s father Imants Kalniņš. There was also a “Song of a Candle” with music by I. Kalniņš and words by I. Ziedonis.

The program was marked by the love-filled motif of voice and guitar “Those are my favorite words” by Kaspars Zemītis and Rēzija Kalniņa with poetry by Rudīte Losāne. The works of this poet have also connected the two artists for the first time.

After the concert, visitors had the opportunity to meet the artists in an informal atmosphere to ask questions of interest about the program they heard. “My mother Helga Dancbergs read a lot of poetry to Ojārs Vācietis and Imants Ziedonis as a child. She did not read us fairy tales, only ancient Greek legends and poetry.

About 20 years ago, friends came to visit me and my ritual was to make them eat, but on the condition that they listen to poetry afterwards.

My friends are also musicians and then I thought about a moment after dinner. Kaspars was the first draw, ”Rēzija Kalniņa revealed in the talks about the beginnings of the program.

“Rēzija introduced me to the poetry of Rudīte Losāne and it was her poems that were the first why I started writing music and songs,” Kaspars Zemītis continued talking about the cooperation between the two.

“Has been a big brother for a few years now”
