Offenbach relies on the bike

Offenbach ⋅ After the initiators of the Offenbach cycling decision failed in February for formal reasons in their attempt to get a citizens’ initiative off the ground, the city had promised to talk to the initiative about ways to promote cycling. According to the city, these talks are now “on the right track”. Mayoress Sabine Groß (Die Grünen), city treasurer Martin Wilhelm (SPD) and building department head Paul-Gerhard Weiß (FDP) are among those involved.

Groß said on Thursday that the Radentscheid initiative and the city of Offenbach are basically pursuing the same goals: “We want to make cycling in Offenbach more attractive and, through appropriate measures, create an incentive to switch from the car more often.” A joint paper is currently being worked on. “The aim is to identify measures that the city can implement financially and in terms of planning and thus promote cycling in Offenbach,” said Wilhelm. “The talks with the city administration are very constructive and characterized by mutual respect. I am confident that with this spirit of cooperation we can present the city councilors with a good paper for resolution,” said Jochen Teichmann, spokesman for the initiative. jor
