October 9 defeats Barcelona and will play the final of the Champions Cup

Midfielder Danny Luna scored a brace in the second half and allowed 9 de Octubre to beat Barcelona 2-0 this Saturday at the Alberto Spencer stadium to play in the Champions Cup final.

The ‘Super 9’ took full advantage of the numerical superiority after the ‘Toreros’ were left with 9 players. Bruno Piñatares was expelled at 24 minutes for two infractions and Gabriel Cortez at 75 for a foul and complaints.

Luna opened the scoring in the 53rd minute with a shot that deflected off a defender and widened the difference in the 64th minute after receiving a pass in the area.

The meeting in the friendly tournament, which represented the first game of the year for both teams, allowed the coaches to give minutes to their squad.

Fabián Bustos used a team in the initial stage and changed it completely for the complement period, while Juan Carlos León made some modifications in the second period.

October 9 will play the final of the Champions Cup against the winner of the other semifinal between Independiente del Valle and Liga de Quito, to be played this Sunday. The final will be on Wednesday at the Christian Benítez stadium.
