One of the cases that has given the Oslo City Council headaches in recent months and where they are under strong pressure, is the massive cost overruns on the Fornebu line.

The online newspaper asked City Councilor for the Environment and Transport, Sirin Stav (MDG), questions about this after the press conference on Thursday.

Full punch – an option

– What is new about Fornebubanen in the revised budget?

– We will return to it in a separate case. We are now working hard to present a case that will first be presented to the city council, before the city council and the county council in Viken will take a position on that project, Stav tells Nettavisen in the video interview above.

On her table are now various options:

– There we will explain different alternatives; move forward with the project as it is, any cuts, such as removing stations, and the alternative of stopping the project – and what consequences it will have for public transport in the city, for urban development and the environment and climate, Stav tells Nettavisen.

– I’ll come back to this.

Word button

– Can you say something already now about what you want to recommend?

– I can not. We must deal with this in the city council first, Stav told Nettavisen on Thursday afternoon.

To finance the cost increase for the subway project, toll rates will be increased by an average of 40 percent for motoristsin an agreement between Oslo Municipality, Viken County Municipality and the State.

It has created outcry.

FRP and FNB say no – Labor and Social Democrats in the think tank

On May 8, Oslo Frp reveal to Nettavisen that they want to scrap the Fornebu line after the last cost overrun of another NOK 5 billion.

– It is because the costs run wild, and we see that Oslo gets very little in return for this. Now you have to use common sense and shelve the project, said FRP’s county leader in Oslo, Andreas Meeg-Bentzen, at the large construction pit at Fornebu.

The Labor Party (Labor Party) and the Center Party (Social Democrats) are also murmuring in the corridors.

according to Avisa Oslo is now considering several key Labor leaders, including City Councilor Raymond Johansen, to stop the Fornebubane project for the first time.

– All stations must be built

The housing construction company Obos announces that they will contribute an additional NOK 300 million to the construction of the Fornebu line in Oslo, provided that all planned stations are realized.

– The board of Obos has now decided to contribute an additional NOK 300 million to the project, provided that all four stations are built, says CEO Daniel Kjørberg Siraj in Obos in a press release on Thursday afternoon.

Obos wants to ensure that Flytårnet station does not disappear in a political compromise. The background is that Oslo Municipality has considered dropping some of the stations at Fornebu after it was revealed that the metro line will cost NOK 4.5 billion more than expected. The cost framework is now estimated at NOK 23.3 billion.

Siraj emphasizes that Fornebubanen is a socially critical project of great importance for the entire Oslo region. When Fornebu is completed, the area will have around 25,000 inhabitants and the same number of jobs, according to the Obos boss.

– If the railway project is scaled down and we are left with a road development, it is a solid declaration of bankruptcy, he says.

Obos is the largest developer at Fornebu and will build 10,000 new homes in the area.
