New on Netflix this week: sex, “suits”, suspense and lots of Hollywood cinema news

In the coming week, Netflix is also expanding its range to include many interesting titles: a highlight that should be shown in the cinema, a new horror film and a series about female orgasms are among the features.

USA Network / Netflix

“The Mitchells against the machines” is already considered one of the best animated films of the year. Netflix grabbed the new film from “The LEGO Movie” producers after it was supposed to be in the cinema.

But there are more promising Netflix Originals coming out next week – like a new horror movie starring Amanda Seyfried. In addition, from May 1, 2021, there will be a lot of purchased licensed titles with a few classics. Oh yes: The popular finale of “Suits” can finally be streamed on Netflix this week.

As always, we present these and other selected highlights in our weekly preview: Here are the top Netflix news for the week of April 26th through May 2ndthat you can put on your watchlist now:

Monday: A New Look at Shakespeare

In Germany, “All Is True” was only released in home theaters, despite the top-class cast. The film by Shakespeare fan and “Thor” director Kenneth Branagh should now get a little more attention on Netflix than on DVD and Blu-ray releases. Branagh himself plays an old Shakespare who retires with his family in the country. But he doesn’t really want to calm down …

Tuesday: high tension from Turkey

“Fatma” is a possible new series hit from Turkey. After Fatma (Burcu Biricik) commits a murder, she is targeted by shady characters. The outwardly inconspicuous woman, who is also looking for her husband, embarks on a murderous odyssey.

Wednesday: The finale of “Suits” and sex

Today there are once again a lot of old Italian films that Netflix puts on the platform, especially in order to meet European quotas. The majority’s attention should therefore be directed towards other titles – for exampleSuits“. The popular lawyer series ended with season 9, which will also be available on Netflix from Wednesday.

A completely new series discovery, on the other hand, could be “Sexify” about three young women who want to track down female orgasms with an app.

Thursday is Anime Day

Netflix experts know: Thursday is anime day for the streaming service and so there will be more supplies for all fans this week as well. “Yasuke” is a Japanese-American co-production set in feudal Japan – albeit in an alternative reality in which magic and advanced technology make it difficult for the honorable samurai. A legendary ronin, known only as the Black Samurai due to his skin color, has to face dark forces to the soundtrack of the hip-hop DJ Flying Lotus who participated in the series.

Film fans might get their money’s worth with the new Netflix horror film “Things Heard & Seen”. In it, Amanda Seyfried plays a young woman who moves with her husband into a new house that seems to be haunted. But those are by no means all dark secrets that reveal themselves to her here …

Friday: an animation masterpiece?

On Friday there is another new Netflix original film: “The Mitchells against the machines“Is the latest trick from” The LEGO Movie “producers and should actually be in the cinemas. But because these are still closed in large parts of the world, Netflix struck and landed a good catch.

At least the first voices about a family’s fight against a robot uprising are almost entirely enthusiastic. Some want to have seen what is probably the best animated film of the year in Comedy for the whole family.

If you like it darker and more exciting, you might get your money’s worth with the new Spanish Netflix series “No Peace to the Dead” or with the sci-fi thriller “Anon”.

Saturday: The full load of Hollywood

It is usually a little quieter on the weekend, but now the beginning of the month falls on a Saturday and you know for sure: On the 1st of each month, Netflix always includes many purchased Hollywood licensed titles in its program.

You can see “Star Trek Beyond”, “Da Vinci Code – Da Vinci Code”, “Hunt for Red October”, “Fifty Shades of Black” and “Last Action Hero” from today. But the author of these lines would like to direct your focus to a small Austrian-German production:

“The Best of All Worlds” is an incredibly sensitive drug drama. The focus is on seven-year-old Adrian (great: Jeremy Miliker), whose mother (Verena Altenberger) is heavily addicted to heroin. A captivating and outstanding film, which for the author of these lines is one of the very best films of 2017.
