In the north of the Sierra de Guadarrama, an hour’s drive from Madrid, a new hiking trail has been opened, inspired by Middle Earth from the books of Lord of the rings. ‘The way of the ring’, “the way of the ring” is a new alternative to more established hiking trails in the country.

Who has always dreamed of immersing himself for days in the decor of Lord of the rings, no longer need to book a trip to New Zealand. In Sierra de Guadarrama, experienced hikers can follow a path inspired by Tolkien’s story Lord of the rings.
The mapped path extends over 122 kilometers of nature, and is divided into eight stages, planned over seven days. The walk takes you through villages, ruins and landscapes reminiscent of the fictional world that Tolkien portrayed. The chance of encountering orcs, elves or hobbits is small, but spotting a wild boar or eagle is possible.
The way of the ring aims to lure tourists to a remote and depopulated part of Spain, hikers are encouraged to stay in local hotels. Those who wish can only start the walk from the information center in the village of El Molar, but it is also possible to take the walk in groups.
