New activity bags for the sake of toddlers

As part of physical activity month, the Center de services scolaire Chemin du Roy officially launched, this Wednesday, the “Allez hop! Move with Bouba! “. These bags are available in all 4-year-old kindergarten classes in Mauricie and are intended to encourage children to move at home, with their parents.

In the form of supervised activities and free active games, this initiative launched jointly with the Center de services scolaire de L’Énergie is a follow-up to the “Attention, enfants en mouvement!” program. “. The objective is to support and involve parents more in the motor development of their child.

“As a physical education teacher, we have seen in recent years that the motor deficit was greater and greater among young people than in the past. I had seen a bag like this so we decided to look to make one too. We are really happy that the children are on board and the parents are having fun with the bags,” said Marie-Andrée Biron, co-responsible for the Physical Education and Health file at the two school service centres.

“Through our activities, young people are encouraged to crawl, jump and work on their balance. It really develops all of the fundamental motor skills. The children have a blast with their bag and tell us what they have invented too. For them, it’s a party when it’s their turn to leave with a bag,” adds Marianne Larin, co-responsible for the Physical Education and Health file at the two school service centres.

In total, there are four thematic active bags, namely animals, knights, firefighters and pirates, containing a book explaining the activity in the form of a story, in addition to all the equipment necessary to carry out the proposed routes. They were distributed in each of the 40 target classes and the children can take turns bringing the different bags home for a week. Throughout the various adventures, the student is accompanied by Bouba, the main character of the four books.

“It’s really a project that is close to our hearts and in which we had a lot of partners to make it happen,” said Isabelle Stoycheff, assistant director of Educational Services at the Center de services scolaire du Chemin-du-Roy. .

“During the meetings with the various stakeholders, we realized that we all had the same objective of getting our little ones moving and we succeeded. We were concerned not to make it complicated and we succeeded. The material is really easy to transport and use. »

The project is still under development in order to allow 5-year-old kindergarten children to also benefit from this initiative, which is intended to be fun, but above all educational on several levels.
