The well-known basketball master coach Steve Kerr reacts furiously to the recent school massacre in the USA. The video has since gone viral.

“When are we going to do something?” Kerr yelled at a press conference ahead of the Dallas Mavericks playoff game on Tuesday night (local time) in Texas. “I’m fed up, I’ve had enough!”

Kerr, a champion with the Chicago Bulls as a player alongside Michael Jordan, therefore did not want to talk about basketball at the press conference. Visibly moved and trembling, the 56-year-old said: “I’m tired of it. I’m so tired of standing here and offering my condolences to the devastated families out there.” Again and again Kerr’s voice faltered, he slammed his hand on the table several times.

Kerr called for stricter gun control in the United States and addressed 50 senators who have so far prevented it. The eight-time NBA champion has long spoken out against gun violence. His father was shot dead in a terrorist attack in Beirut, Lebanon in 1984.
Other athletes also commented on the school massacre, including Dallas coach Jason Kidd. The Mavericks’ game against the Warriors started with a minute’s silence. Dallas won 119-109, cutting to 3-1 in the NBA Playoffs Semifinals series.

The coach’s emotional speech went viral on Twitter. The video has over 16 million views on the Golden State Warriors channel alone. It was also retweeted over 200,000 times. Stars such as basketball player LeBron James and Warriors player Stephen Curry, as well as singer Taylor Swift shared the video on their profiles. Swift writes: “I am filled with anger and sadness and so broken by the murders in Uvalde.”
