Microsoft is working on Defender for iOS and Android and is releasing version for Linux – Computer – News

Microsoft is bringing its Defender ATP security suite to iOS and Android, the company announced in a brief announcement. At the same time, the company has released a preview of Defender ATP for Linux.

Details about the mobile version of Defender Defender Advanced Threat Protection does not give the company yet. Next week the company will announce more during the RSA conference. In particular on iOS, a complete mobile security suite seems to be out of the question because apps are running in a protected sandbox environment and therefore cannot offer antivirus protection in the background. Probably apps are part of Microsoft’s security platform for the enterprise, offering protection against phishing, for example.

Microsoft makes too known that Defender ATP for Linux gets a public preview. According to the company, expansion to Linux is a long-held wish of customers. Defender ATP runs with support on six distributions: RHEL 7+, CentOS Linux 7+, Ubuntu 16 LTS, or later versions, SLES 12+, Debian 9+ and Oracle EL 7. Microsoft announced in September last year, during its Ignite 2019- conference, that Defender ATP would come to Linux. Early last year, the company announced the security suite to macOS would come.
