The ship of Pirates of the Caribbean will set sail again for a box office success… but this time captained by a new star.
As reported by The Hollywood Repoter, Margot Robbie has reached an agreement with Disney to star in the new movie in the pirate adventure saga.
A film whose plot will be set in the same world as the movies starring Johnny Depp like Jack Sparrow. Chrstina Hodson, responsible for the Birds of Prey scripts and Transformers spin-off Bumblebee, will write the script.
The studio thus launched the film from the buccaneer saga starring female stars, to which names of other actresses such as Karen Gillan were associated. This not supposed to replace Depp with Robbie in front of it, although the restart of the saga is still on the table.
Thus, the American publication reports that this it’s not the only movie Pirates of the Caribbean currently in development at Disney. He is also reportedly working on a reboot of the film franchise with the original Pirates writer., Ted Elliott, and the creator of Chernobyl, Craig Mazin. Robbie’s movie will not interfere with any plans for such a reboot. Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the saga from its origins, will also be producer of both films.
So, the Robbie movie it will be a “totally original” story with new characters, but set in the same adventure world in which Jack Sparrow already exists. The details of the plot they are kept totally secret.
